Audition Details

​

• All dancers who are ages 5 and older may audition for the Created to Dance Performance Company!

• All dancers who would like to join the Created to Dance Performance Company must attend the in-person audition that will be held at Creation Dance Studio on Saturday, June 15th.

• Emerald, Sapphire, and Diamond dancers must audition for at least TWO dance styles. 

• Dancers who are current company members must attend the in-person audition on Saturday, June 15th.

• All dancers who would like to join the Created to Dance Performance Company must be available to attend Choreography Week in August, Monday, 8/12, through Saturday, 8/17.

• Dancers must turn in a completed audition form prior to auditioning.

• After auditioning, dancers will be placed into one of five companies based upon their age and skill level.

Will CTD perform at Disneyland EVERY year?

CTD will not perform at Disneyland every year and will not travel to Disneyland during the 2024-2025 season. We anticipate that we will return to Disneyland during the 2026-2027 season.

Pearl Company
Ages 5-7+

​

• Dancers who are five years old must be entering Kindergarten in the fall of 2024 to audition.

• The Pearl Company is an introductory performance company and little to no previous dance experience is required to audition.

• Dancers in the Pearl Company will have 3-5 performances throughout the year in addition to the Spring Recital. Pearl Company dancers will have fewer CTD performance requirements compared to the jewel companies due to age limitations at certain events.

• Pearls Company dancers will be required to take classes at CDS two days per week.

• Pearl Company dancers will have the opportunity to perform in both Ballet/Jazz and Hip Hop/Jazz styles!

Ruby Company
Ages 7+

​

• Dancers who are seven years old must be entering 2nd Grade in the fall of 2024 and have previous dance experience to audition.

• At least one full year of previous dance experience in a Mini or Beginning level class is required for Ruby Company dancers. If a dancer is seven or eight years old and has no previous dance experience, they should audition for the Pearl Company. 

• Dancers must be enrolled and/or placed in Beginning - Beginning/Intermediate level classes in the fall of 2024 to audition for the Ruby Company.

• Ruby Company dancers will have the opportunity to perform in both Ballet/Lyrical and Hip Hop/Jazz styles!

Emerald Company

Ages 9+

​

• Dancers who are nine years old must be entering 4th Grade in the fall of 2024.

• Dancers must be enrolled in Beginning/Intermediate - Intermediate level classes at CDS to audition for the Emerald Company.

• At least three years of previous dance experience is required to audition.

• Emerald Company dancers will have the opportunity to perform in Ballet/Lyrical, Jazz, and Hip Hop styles!

• Emerald Company dancers are required to audition for at least two styles of dance (for example: Jazz and Hip Hop), however, we encourage all dancers to audition and perform in all three styles.

Sapphire Company

​

• Dancers must be enrolled in Intermediate - Intermediate/Advanced level classes at CDS to audition for the Sapphire Company.

• At least four years of previous dance experience is required to audition.

• Sapphire Company dancers will have the opportunity to perform in Ballet/Lyrical, Jazz, and Hip Hop styles!

• Sapphire Company dancers are required to audition for at least two styles of dance (for example: Jazz and Hip Hop), however, we encourage all dancers to audition and perform in all three styles.

Diamond Company

​

• Dancers must be enrolled in Intermediate/Advanced - Advanced level classes at CDS to audition for the Diamond Company.

• At least six years of previous dance experience is required to audition.

• Diamond Company dancers will have the opportunity to perform in Contemporary, Jazz, and Hip Hop styles!

• Diamond Company dancers are required to audition for at least two styles of dance (for example: Contemporary and Hip Hop), however, we encourage all dancers to audition and perform in all three styles.

Jewel Company

Ages 18+

​

• Jewel company dancers are not required to audition and should contact info@creationdancestudio.com if interested

• Jewel company dancers should have previous dance experience and be at an intermediate level of ballet.

• Jewel Company dancers will have the opportunity to perform in Ballet and Jazz styles!

Company Requirements

CTD dancers will have specific requirements throughout the year. ​Requirements include attending a certain number of Summer Classes, attending Choreography Week in August, enrolling in specific School Year Session classes, and participating in CTD performances. Although there are requirements for all dancers who participate in the CTD, we strive to make CTD a reasonable option for all families, both in terms of commitment level and financial obligations! Having your Emerald, Sapphire, or Diamond dancer only participate in two out of three dance styles is a great option for families who are looking for less time commitment. Participating in ALL dance styles is a great option for dancers who are deeply invested in dance! 

Summer Classes 

Dancers in CTD will be required to attend a certain number of Summer Classes leading up to Choreography Week in August. Summer class requirements are determined based on the Company that your dancer is placed in and the types of dance that they have auditioned for. Summer dance classes are required to ensure that dancers are maintaining and continuing to build their strength and dance skills during July and August!

Choreography Week

Choreography Week will take place Monday, 8/12, through Saturday, 8/17. During this extremely fun week, dancers will learn the majority of their CTD choreography, bond with their fellow company members, and participate in team building activities. On Saturday, 8/17, there will be an end of week celebration that includes all company dancers and families! 

School Year Session Requirements

Company dancers will have certain class requirements during the school year so that they can continue to learn and grow as dancers. School Year Session requirements are determined based on the Company that your dancer is placed in and the types of dance that they have auditioned for. In addition to required classes, dancers in all companies will have ONE rehearsal per week during the School Year Session where they practice their dances and prepare for upcoming performances. Please email ctd@creationdancestudio.com to receive a CTD Information Packet and a CTD Class Requirements Packet.
